Mae TEN yn falch o gyflwyno arddangosfa sy’n dathlu dylanwad pensaernïaeth ar waith pedwar o artistiaid yr oriel. Gweithia’r pedwar â chyfryngau gwahanol, a’r dylanwad arnynt yn ymestyn o’r hynafol i’r brutalist i’r cyfoes cyfarwydd.
Cynhwysir gwaith newydd gan Susan Phillips [serameg], â’i cherfluniau tawel, sy’n dibynnu ar ei gilydd mewn gwrthbwyso strwythurol geometrig. Rhodda le cyfartal i ddeunydd a gwagle i greu gofod drwy’r dull mwyaf symyl posib. Cawn ddetholiad bychan o archif enfawr Jon Pountney [ffotograffiaeth], a’i gariad arbennig at dirwedd ôl-ddiwydiannol. Gwel adeiladau â’u holion fel ymyrraeth pobl ar y tirwedd, yn dystiolaeth o hanes - a hynny’n dod â‘r tir yn fyw.
Yn rhan o’r arddanogsfa fydd nifer o weithiau André Stitt [peintiwr] a fagwyd yng Ngogledd Iwerddon yn y 60au a’r 70au cythryblus y gwrthdaro sifil. Hiraros yw dylanwad adeiladau milwriaethus y cyfnod arno, yn ogystal ac effeithiau y bensaerniaeth ar amgylcheddau a chymunedau. Defnydda Jon Thomas [cerflunydd] blociau i adeiladu ffurfiau amlhaenog geometrig sy’n edrych at bensaernïaeth gwareiddiadau hynafol - a hynny drwy weithio â deunyddiau cyfoes, EPS [polystyrene] ac acrylig.
Dyma arolwg bras a thrawiadol ar effaith a phwer adeiladau - yn weledol ac yn emosiynnol, yn gadarnhaol ac yn negyddol - ar gymunedau, ar yr unigolyn ac ar allbwn creadigol yr artistiaid yma.

TEN is proud to present an exhibition that celebrates the influence of architecture on the work of four of the gallery's artists. The four work with different media, and the influence extends from the ancient to the brutalist to the familiar contemporary.
Included are new works by Susan Phillips [ceramics], with her muted, interdependent sculptures poised in geometric counterbalance. Equal measure is given to material and void space to create architectural structures through the simplest possible method. A small selection from a huge archive of Jon Pountney’s [photography] work will be on show, highlighting his love for post-industrial landscape. He sees buildings and their traces as human intervention on the landscape, evidence of history - and that brings the landscape to life.
A collection of work spanning a decade by André Stitt [painter] will be on the gallery’s walls. Stitt grew up in Northern Ireland in the turbulent 60s and 70s of the civil conflict and the influence of the militant buildings of the period - and their effects on environments and communities - is clear. Jon Thomas [sculptor] looks to the architecture of ancient civilizations however utilizes contemporary materials - EPS [polystyrene] and acrylic - to build geometric multilayered forms.
This is a broad and striking survey on the impact and power of buildings - visually and emotionally, positively and negatively - on communities, on the individual and on the creative output of these artists.
